Equipment Disposal Certification under WEEE / ISO 14001 Regulations

  • To ensure that the removal and disposal of laboratory equipment at the end of its useful life is carried out in accordance with European regulations on the management of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and with the environmental management requirements of the ISO 14001 standard, releasing the laboratory from legal and environmental liability over the equipment’s fate.
  • Comprehensive management of decommissioning obsolete laboratory equipment, equipment that has broken down beyond viable repair, or equipment replaced by new acquisitions: physical removal of the instrument, treatment as electronic waste in accordance with WEEE regulations (Directive 2012/19/EU and its transposition in Spain, Royal Decree 110/2015), and issuance of a destruction or disposal certificate confirming that the process was carried out in line with ISO 14001 environmental management criteria. This certificate serves as documentary support for the laboratory in internal audits, environmental inspections or client requirements.
  • Legal compliance with WEEE regulations, avoiding penalties for improper electronic waste management.
  • Documentary certificate confirming traceability of the disposal process, useful in ISO 14001 audits or for clients requiring environmental policy compliance from their suppliers.
  • Reduced reputational and legal risk associated with non-compliant equipment disposal.
  • Freed-up physical space in the laboratory without having to manage the removal process internally.
  • Verifiable contribution to the laboratory’s sustainability and circular economy policy, strengthening its standing with clients and auditors who value environmental responsibility.
